The Sd.Kfz. 222 is one of the most recognizable German vehicles from World War II, an important element of the Wehrmacht's reconnaissance forces. The Sd.Kfz. 222 vehicle was equipped with a rotating turret with a 20 mm gun, which gave it a significant advantage in combat. The front and sides of the vehicles were protected by 8 mm thick steel sheets: thinner, 5 mm of sheet metal protected the top, rear and chassis. The turret was not armored from above, the crew was protected from this side only by a protective net against grenades and light shrapnel.
With a maximum speed of 80 km/h and four-wheel drive, this vehicle was excellent for off-road maneuvers. Although its armor was modest, it provided basic protection for the crew.
Mainly used by reconnaissance units, the Sd.Kfz. 222 played a key role in German operations on various fronts of World War II.
