Der Tiger is a series of books that shows the Tigers and other associated vehicles in chronologically laid out photographs with specific text for each Abteilung.

Schwere Panzerabteilung 501 fought on the battlefields of Tunisia (North Africa), Russia, Poland and the Reich.

The first volume of the book series uses images taken by a photographer of the Propaganda companies and private photographs taken by members of the Abteilung, arranged by timeline, place and sequence, to show DER TIGER in the field, under maintenance and after action.

In this volume:

  • Formation in May 1942- send to Tunisia (North Africa) at the end of November 1942
  • Reestablishment in September/October 1943- dispatched to the Eastern Front December 1943
  • Revitalisation and re-equipment with Tiger II- moved to Poland in August 44 and the Reich.

128 pages with more than 150 unique photographs from official or private collections and 1/35 plans of a unit-made crane.
